Our Intent 

At Deanwood Primary School, we aim to encourage children to develop their creativity, imagination and artistic skills to their fullest extent. Children  are offered opportunities to experiment, invent and create  their own unique works of art through a variety of medium including drawing, painting, sculpture and combinations, for example, an oil painting may be augmented with watercolour washes, or a charcoal drawing may have pastel highlights. 

Aims 

Our aims for Art and Design: 

• Experience the process when creating artworks, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences in sketchbooks. 

• Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. 

• Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design. 

• Know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical, economical and cultural development of their art forms and their influence in the world.
